Diplomat

Length: 135 feet

Passengers: 2 to 200

Seated: up to 130

FDR has been on board. So have the King and Queen of Denmark, and famed financier Bernard Baruch. Not to mention the U.S. Navy after she was pressed into service patrolling the Chesapeake Bay during World War II. Even stripped of her teak decks and outfitted with a gun on her bow, the 135 ft. Diplomat never lost her elegant bearings. She was built in 1930 for the president of Standard Oil of New Jersey, who entertained the rich and famous of a bygone era.

Well, not altogether bygone, a year in restoration and over half a million dollars recreating the ambiance of the 1930's on board. The original tin ceiling has been replicated... the ocean-liner posters are originals... and don't miss the 1864 naval officer's battle sword in the antique vitrine on the lower deck... or the portholes and windows refitted from J.P. Morgan's Yacht Jezebel and the Queen Mary.
